Lead Teacher

Arizona Christian Academy is seeking Lead Teachers for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade to serve as the primary instructions and shepherds of their classrooms.  Lead Instructors are responsible for cultivating a reverent, joyful, and well-ordered learning environment while delivering a classical curriculum appropriate to the grammar stage of development. 

The role is ideal for experienced elementary educators who are eager to teach within a classical and Orthodox framework and who value collaboration, formation, and thoughtful instruction.  This hybrid position requires on-site presence Tuesday through Thursday with availability on Mondays and Fridays to support planning, preparation, communication, and occasional student or family needs as part of our hybrid model. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead classroom teacher, responsible for instruction, planning, and classroom life. 
  • Teach core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, history, literature, and integrated faith formation using classical methods.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom culture marked by order, attention, beauty, reverence, and joy.
  • Integrate prayer, Scripture, saints' lives and the liturgical rhythm of the Church into daily instructions.
  • Use developmentally appropriate classical practices such as narration, memorization, imitation, and storytelling. 
  • Communicate regularly and warmly with parents, partnering in the formation of each child.
  • Participate in ongoing teacher formation, including summer training and collaborative planning.
  • Work closely with administration and fellow teachers to ensure alignment across grades. 

Must Have

  • Bachelor Degree or Higher.
  • Teaching certification (Arizona or reciprocal).
  • Minimum of 2 years of elementary classroom teaching experience. 
  • Ability to pass background check and fingerprint clearance.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Arizona Christian Orthodox Academy.
  • Active participation in an Orthodox Christian Parish. 

Nice to have

  • Experience with classical education or strong openness to learning classical pedagogy. 
  • Familiarity with phonics-based literacy instruction.
